Champion of Champions Final

The 2022 Champion of Champions were played over the last 2 weekends culminating in the semi-finals and finals yesterday the 17th July in brilliant sunshine in Dun Laoghaire Bowling Club.   The semi finals were played starting at 12.00 pm and the finals followed at 3.45 pm.  There was a marathon match between Dun Laoghaire Champion Rita Saunders and Skerries Champion Liz Kenny lasting over 3 hours.  Liz led for most of the match but Rita hung on and managed to secure victory.

The finals were also very exiting but Eoghain Brady of Bray who played very steadily throughout the Championships came out on top against Paddy Taaffe of Skerries.  Ann Wainwright of Shankill proved a step to far for Rita.  Rita was again fighting back with Ann on 20 shots when Ann with a magnificent shot trailed the jack into the ditch to win the final shot of her 21.

Well done to all the competitors who treated us to two magnificent weekends of bowling.

Our thanks go to all those who worked so hard over the two weekends to help make them so successful.  In particular thanks to Sean Keegan the BLI PRO for doing the live streaming of the men’s semi final and the ladies final.  These can be viewed on the BLI Facebook page.

Domestic Competitions

With one exception the second round of the domestic competitions are now complete.   Special circumstances apply in the case of the exception and permission has been given to postpone it until early next week with the agreement of both sides.  You are all doing very well playing your matches on schedule.

The next round is due to be completed by the 14th of August and with the BLI and LBLI championships at the semi final stage it is hoped that no further extensions are required.  It is important that all matches are played by the 14th as we are then into the semi finals and there is only 3 weeks left to get those completed.

So those of you still in the Domestic Competitions please get on and arrange your third round matches as soon as possible to ensure they are played on time.
