Dun Laoghaire Achievements

First of all belated congratulations to Michael Cusack who has been selected for next years Men’s Senior Inter Association panel.

Last night a number of us attend the inaugural ILB annual dinner where a number of prizes had to be collected.  Gerry McGinley was on hand to collect the winners trophy for last years Veterans Division 1 trophy.  James Lanigan did the honours to collect the runners up medals for Veterans Division 3 & 4.

Then it was the turn of the Ladies and Margaret Woods was there to collect the Rhona Eager trophy on behalf of Rita Saunders, Vivienne Beattie and Gay Greene.  Margaret also collected the Senior Challenge Cup which was won by our ladies first team.

There follows a few photos of the presentations.

Captains Day

The Captains day was originally scheduled for Sunday the 24th of September but due to the inclement weather was postponed to Sunday the 1st of October.  A very clever decision by our Captains Paul and Margaret as who would have believed the beautiful warm sunny Sunday the 1st was to be.

54 members turned out to partake in the bowling.  The winners were Ger Ryan, Joan Needham, John Jowett and Gay Greene, and the runners up were Vincent Geraghty, Christine Byrne, Hazel Alexander and Bill Curran.

Below are some photographs of the day, starting with the winners and runners up.

Finals Weekend

The above photo shows our 2 club champions Vivienne Beattie and Anto Grey receiving their trophies from President Ian Flood.  There were some very exiting finals over the weekend and some excellent bowling despite the very inclement weather.  Well done to all those who made it through to the weekend both winners and runners up.

For a full list of winners and runners up as well as photographs of the prize giving see the “finals weekend” tab under “domestic competitions” or if you prefer click on this link

Finals Weekend

The prizes were presented in the same order as the names are listed in the list of runners up and winners.  All those involved attended and were photographed except Richard Needham – runner up in the men’s senior singles, who sent his apologies.

Congratulations to the Ladies

Congratulations to our ladies who today defeated Leinster Bowling Club to win the Open Challenge Cup. This was a first for Dun Laoghaire.

Well done to the team led by Captain Margaret Woods. Below are some photos of the team and the presentation.   The President of the ILB attended for the full match
