IBA Presidency 2018

One of our members, Mike Brophy, is the Vice-President of the Irish Bowling Association this year and next year in 2018 he will be the President of the IBA.

The IBA is the governing body of the sport of men's outdoors bowls in Ireland (32 counties) and it is a great honour for Mike and Dun Laoghaire Bowling Club that he will be President next year. During 2018 there will be two events held at the club, the IBA flag unfurling on 7 April and the IBA National Bowling Championship Finals on Friday 31 August and Saturday 1 September.

The National Bowling Championships Finals in 2018 is a major event for the club and the Dun Laoghaire area

Champion of Champions

Congratulations to John Byrne & Noeleen Kelly, both of Crumlin Bowling Club, on their respective wins in the 2017 Champion of Champions.

About Us

Originally we were based in Moran Park which is located in Dun Laoghaire town centre but as the club has expanded so too has our requirements and 2012 was an exciting year as we relocated to our new home in Eglinton Park (the old Dun Laoghaire Golf Club site). The club is now open all year round with our all weather facility and new members are very welcome.

Eglinton Park is located off Tivoli Road.

We cater for beginners or the more experienced bowler and all ages young and old are welcome. Lawn bowls is a competitive sport that dates from the 12th Century and is closely related to Bocce, Bolla, Bolle and Boules. It is an enjoyable team or singles sport and a great way of enjoying the company of others. Many of our members played other more contact sports such as rugby, hockey, soccer, gaelic football or hurling before taking up bowls and our members are aged from their late teens to late eighties. Bowls truly is a sport for all.

The club has both Ladies and Men's Sections and caters for bowlers of all ages both young and old.
